Overview of the Department of French Language and Literature
The Department of French Language and Literature was established as an independent department within the School of Foreign Languages (formerly the Faculty of Arts) in 1997. However, French had been taught at the University of Jordan for over thirty years, initially at the Language Center since 1987.The department's core objectives include equipping students with comprehensive language skills (listening, speaking, writing, and reading) as well as fostering proficiency in linguistics and French literature. Moreover, it strives to prepare students for various career paths, notably in education, translation, business, and tourism sectors.
